For fun and profit (meaning success, rather than cash!), Lucy and I are going to visit DOGSmart in Vancouver on Saturday. Alice will assess Lucy for their DOGSmart reactive dog training. I thought we’d try something different from the e-collar training, which works very well to stop anything untoward from happening, but hasn’t completely extinguished Lucy’s mild reactiveness to other dogs.
Now, I’m pretty sure that “Sit Happens!” could teach me how to use the e-collar to extinguish this behaviour, but I like trying out new doggy adventures, hence the decision to explore what DOGSmart has to offer. A new environment and new experiences for Lucy are what I’m all about!
I want to try Rally-O or Agility or something like that with Lucy, too, once we get this reactivity under total control.
[Update: I never did sign up with DOGSmart as I just didn’t feel it was a good fit for Lucy or for me. Instead we found a lot of help online from Sean O’Shea at TheGoodDog.net.]
