Well, today I think Lucy took the doggy initiation rite! I’m sure she’s been accepted into that prestigious sorority now (I say sorority, since she’s a girl!). It happened during our morning walk along the POCO Trail. We ventured down the bank to a favourite spot where there’s a tree limb that acts as a great seat for me. We sometimes go down there and Lucy pokes around and I enjoy the scenery. Today Lucy ventured further along the river bank than usual… and when she came back her face was streaked with what I thought was mud. But this was the stinkiest mud ever. It didn’t smell like fish, so I don’t know what it was. Someone suggested bear poop! Whatever it was, it smelled positively evil.
Fortunately, Bosley’s on Shaugnessy is open on Sundays, so we trotted over there and I bathed Lucy in their doggy spa area. For $5 (a special they have for a few months), it was more than worth it! I had to shampoo Lucy three times to get rid of the smell. I also had to wash both her collars (regular collar and e-collar!). After giving her a thorough drying, I dumped her stinky sweater into a plastic bag, popped it into my trusty backpack and we were on our way again.
It’s a good job I bathed her because we planned to stop at our favourite Starbucks and I didn’t want people petting her like that! She even got hugged by a little boy at Starbucks today… thank goodness she was clean! Anyway, I think she passed her first major doggy initiation test with flying colours!
